Carrie Reasonover has served as IRI’s Deputy Director for Middle East and North Africa since July 2020. Reasonover first joined IRI as part of the Eurasia Division in 2009, managing programs in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan before joining IRI’s MENA team in 2012.  While in MENA, she managed IRI’s programs in Afghanistan, Jordan and Morocco. Reasonover then joined the Europe division in 2018 to expand the portfolio and build the Europe team, leading program development efforts in the Balkans and recruiting and training a dedicated, cohesive group of staff to design and carry out effective programming. Reasonover rejoined the MENA team in 2020, where she works with teams to implement a wide range of projects focused on political party development, local governance and oversees IRI’s Washington-based and regional staff. 

During her tenure at IRI, Reasonover has observed elections in Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Nigeria and Egypt. She also organized IRI’s election observation missions in Jordan in 2013 and 2016. 

Prior to joining IRI, Reasonover worked on the 2008 presidential campaign of Senator John McCain, first in Iowa and then on the national campaign as part of the Scheduling and Advance team. She has also consulted on several smaller campaigns on communications and foreign policy. An Ohio native, Reasonover graduated from Case Western Reserve University, where she majored in Political Science, International Studies and German.  She received her Master of Arts from the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University in Washington, DC. Reasonover was an AmeriCorps Volunteer in Cleveland, Ohio, working on health initiatives with urban youth. Reasonover was also a Fulbright fellow in Koblenz, Germany, where she taught English to 4^th-12^th graders. She is fluent in German.  

In her spare time, Reasonover enjoys time with her husband and two sons, and is perpetually planning their next trip to Disney World.
